Having cleaned off all the old paint with a wire wheel, and degreased everything, I’ve now masked off parts of the vice that need to remain as bare metal and it is now ready for paint!
Sliding jaw after red primer:
I couldn’t resist, so primed and painted the trigger and front bracket so I could see what the new colour would look like.
I chose this burgundy colour as I remember my granddad’s Record vice was similar to this colour when I was a boy.

And now the main body and sliding jaw with 3 coats of burgundy paint:
Going to let it dry for a day or two before putting everything back together.
